AutoSupport Message: DISK_SCRUB
Applies to
Data ONTAP 7 and earlier
Issue
This AutoSupport message is triggered when Data ONTAP 7 (this AutoSupport message is depricated in Data ONTAP 8 and later) detects any problems during a RAID-level disk scrub operation. For a description of the disk scrub operation, refer to How RAID-level disk scrubs verify data integrity.
A number of things are checked during a disk scrub run, including stored parity, checksums and disk media errors. Data ONTAP logs a message when the scrub begins on each RAID group, and when it completes, it logs a summary message for each RAID group with the scrub duration and status. If you receive a DISK_SCRUB AutoSupport
, errors were detected and the summary messages detail any errors found
- Example:
-
[raid.rg.scrub.start:notice]: /aggr0/plex0/rg0: starting scrub
...
[raid.rg.scrub.suspended:notice]: /aggr0/plex0/rg0: scrub suspended at stripe 16239552 after 2:07:11.32
[raid.rg.scrub.pi:error]: Inconsistent parity on RAID group /aggr0/plex0/rg0, stripe #16237976.
[raid.rg.scrub.pi:error]: Inconsistent parity on RAID group /aggr0/plex0/rg0, stripe #16237976.
[raid.rg.scrub.rewrite.data:notice]: Scrub fixing bad data on Disk /aggr0/plex0/rg0/0a.44 Shelf 2 Bay 12 [NETAPP DISK TYPE] S/N [SERIAL], block #16237976
[raid.rg.scrub.summary.pi:EMERGENCY]: Scrub found 2 parity inconsistencies in /aggr0/plex0/rg0.
[raid.rg.scrub.summary.cksum:notice]: Scrub found 0 checksum errors in /aggr0/plex0/rg0.
[raid.rg.scrub.summary.media:notice]: Scrub found 0 media errors in /aggr0/plex0/rg0.
In this example, the scrub was suspended after detecting two parity inconsistency
errors. You may also see messages regarding checksum or media
errors.
