  • NetApp HCI
  • NetApp HCI Bootstrap OS
  • NetApp HCI storage node
  • NetApp SolidFire storage node
  • Return to Factory Image (RTFI)

Description

This KB describes how to RTFI a SolidFire storage, NetApp HCI storage, or NetApp HCI compute node using the BMC

Notes:
  • For compute nodes that already have ESXi installed, using this procedure with NetApp HCI 1.6+ Compute BootStrap OS ISO image will update the firmware and the Bootstrap OS on that compute node leaving ESXi and configuration data intact. The only way to reset an existing ESXi installation starting with NetApp HCI 1.6+ is to use the Factory Reset option from the Compute node's Text User Interface (TUI).

  • This procedure is only applicable if the BMC is already accessible and configured with an IP address.

  • Do not close the browser during installation as you will lose connection to the iso image and will break the installation.

NOTE: This procedure can be used to RTFI a storage node as well.
