Disk assign not possible (error mentions different disk ID)

Issue

An unassigned disk cannot be assigned.
 
While assigning the disk <stack>.<shelf_ID1>.<bay> ontap is trying to assign a different disk <stack>.<shelf_ID2>.<bay> which is a part of aggregate, example:
storage disk assign -disk 1.SHFHU1111000111.9 -owner <nodename> -sysid <system_ID>
The command returns an error similar to:
Error: command failed: Failed to assign disks. Reason: Assign request failed for disk 1.SHFHU2222000222.9. Reason: Disk is a file system disk and part of an online aggregate. Changing its owner may cause aggregate or filer outage.'
