Answer

  • ONTAP does not automatically adjust scheduled jobs relying on the cron scheduler and must be adjusted manually
  • Kerberos authentication occurs in UTC time and is timezone agnostic
  • Regardless of configured time zone, Kerberos authentication will be impacted if time (adjusted for UTC) is more than 5 minutes off
  • Changing time zone should not impact Kerberos, although it is always recommended to confirm clock is accurate compared to the UTC time
  • If the time zone is currently set to UTC then changing time zones may affect the clock displayed time by however many hours the new time zone is from UTC
  • If the time zone is not currently set to UTC then there will be no change
  • Example: Adjusting from UTC to CET will cause the clock to advance 1 hour in winter or 2 hours in summer, but going from EST to CST will not cause the clock to change
