AutoSupport via SMTPS fails by "SMTP connectivity check failed for destination" due to invalid port

Issue

  • SMTP connectivity check fails although username does not contain @ while AutoSupport configuration with SMTP authentication

::> autosupport modify -node * -mail-hosts user%40host.com@mailhost:465
Enter password for remote host "mailhost":

Warning: SMTP connectivity check failed for destination:
         user%40host.com:********@mailhost:465. Error:
         Timeout was reached when connecting to the server -
         'mailhost:465'

  • AUTOSUPPORT-CHECK.XML indicates SMTP connectivity check failed for destination with timeout

AutoSupport Check Category:smtp
AutoSupport Check Type :mail-server
Status of the Check:failed
Detailed Description of Error:SMTP connectivity check failed for destination: user%40host.com:465. Error: Timeout was reached when connecting to the server - '<SMTPS_SERVER>:465'
Corrective Action :Possible network configuration issue. Ensure that you have network connectivity
