Applies to

  • Service Processor (SP)
  • Baseboard Management Controller (BMC)
  • ONTAP 9

Description

Installation prerequisites

To install the BMC/SP image, you need to have access to the following devices:

  • A web server on a network accessible to your storage controller.
  • Either, remote access to the BMC or a serial console connected to the storage controller.

You can use either the ONTAP CLI or the BMC/SP CLI to update the firmware. However, you must not use both CLIs at the same time to trigger an update.

Note: The ONTAP CLI is the preferred download method as it will schedule the update to both controllers in the HA pair; however, if a controller is offline, you can still use the BMC /SP CLI for installing it on single node using the web server.
