Description

This article describes how to identify in ONTAP if a broken or failed disk drive regardless if the attention (amber) LED is illuminated.

Procedure

Using System Manager in ONTAP 9.8 and later
  1. In the menu navigate to CLUSTER | Disks.
  2. In the Disks tab filter by the Container Type column for Broken.
  3. The Name column identifies the disk path name which is <stack-id> .<shelf> .<bay> format.
Using ONTAP CLI
