How are FAS nodes, mounts, and aggregates segregated in HA pairs?
Applies to
All versions of ONTAP or Data ONTAP
Answer
- HA Pairs have two separate nodes, on two separate motherboards, that only share same disks
- Each node creates groups of disks called Aggregates, which contain FlexVols that are mounted over CIFS, FCP, iSCSI, or NFS
- One node does not access the other's Aggregates, except in takeover
- To utilize the resources of both nodes, talk to your account team about setting up a FlexGroup or using multiple LUNs striped as a volume group on the host side.
