Event Summary

  • Persistent cache backup device has failed is reported in the events log on SANtricity
  • CACHE BACKUP DEVICE - Failed error message is showing in the Recovery Guru.
    • Additionally, a  CACHE_BACKUP_DEVICE_INSUFFICIENT_CAPACITY recovery guru failure entry may be logged.

  • The mSATA drive, used for flushing cache in the events of power down or sudden loss of power has failed.
    • Depending on the system configuration, there will possibly be an alert indicating the cache is disabled or suspended. This is to be expected if the cache backup device fails.
      • Failure Entry 2: WB_CACHING_FORCIBLY_DISABLED-Recovery Failure Type Code: 378"

Storage Array Profile shows cache backup device is failed.
