StorageGRID appliance network interface is down, unknown or flapping

Applies to

  • NetApp StorageGRID appliances
  • Switch port(s) connecting to the StorageGRID appliances port(s)

Issue

  • StorageGRID appliance network port (hic x)is showing status DOWN or Unknown for one or more ports or the port is continuously flapping.
  • Alert  occurs as Storage appliance link down on network port x or Service appliance link down on network port
  • Major error: Network port X on the appliance is down, disconnected, or not running.
  • Although the StorageGRID appliance network port is shown as UP and RUNNING, the switch port connected to the StorageGRID appliance network port is shown as down or flapping.
