Event Summary

NDDOWN is an AutoSupport message regarding a node being in an unknown state

  • AutoSupport will open a case with subject: NDDOWN:StorageGRID Notification from XXXXXX(NODE_DOWN-CRITICAL) ERROR
  • One or more StorageGRID nodes appear next to a blue icon NDDOWN (Disconnected – Unknown) in the Grid Manager
  • StorageGRID reports the Unable to communicate with Node alert

Validate

  1. Verify the status of the StorageGRID compute node by
    • Checking the status in the StorageGRID GUI and if it still shows as disconnected
    • SSH to the node. If SSH works, but the host id changed, the node is either in the base-os or pre-grid-environment (PGE)
  2. For StorageGRID Appliances, verify the E-Series controller status

Resolution

  1. Follow steps described in How to troubleshoot StorageGRID unable to communicate with node (NDDOWN)
  2. If unable to bring the node back online, contact NetApp Technical Support
