Event Summary

  • StorageGRID reports CassandraCommunicationError indicating nodes that run the Cassandra service are having trouble communicating with each other.
  • This alert indicates that something is interfering with node-to-node communications. There might be a network issue , the Cassandra service might be down on one or more Storage Nodes or the nodes are overloaded preventing communication

Validate

Verify if the Cassandra service is "running" on each storage node by going to Support > Grid Topology > Storage Node > SSM > Services

Additional Information

If the affected nodes are under decommissioning or the E-Series backend storage is upgraded , this is an expected behavior as services are being stopped including Cassandra Service causing CassandraCommunicationError alarm. No further action is required.
