OnCommand Unified Manager 5.x
Answer
The most useful general set of data can be collected easily using the DFMDC tool, available from the Support toolchest.
If the problem in question involves one or more filers, use of the -f filer1,filer2,filerN
switch should be used to gather details about OnCommand Unified Managers connectivity to the storage controllers.
Please note the dfmdc tool is built-in in DFM 5.2 and higher, so customer can run the following command without downloading the tool:
dfmdc -f filer1,filer2,filer3,...
For issues with Protection Manager, DFMDC will automatically gather details about existing datasets. If there is a known problem with a specific backup, the output of the following command from the UM server CLI
dfpm job list
Review the output of the above command and discover the jobID of a representative backup run and then run
dfpm job detail <jobid>
This will retrieve a log of the backup details which will speed resolution of reported issues.
If there is a problem with a performance data, the output of the following command from the UM server CLI:
dfm perf data describe <hostname>
Once the DFMDC is collected you may upload the file to NetApp by using the following KB as a guide
