Issue

  • NetApp HCI compute node reboots and does not boot properly
  • Boot process might get stuck on a blue window asking for a password 
    P1:Micron_5100_MTFDDAV240TCB password
  • IPMI shows event: 
    System Firmware Error: Unrecoverable hard-disk/ATAPI/IDE device failure
  • Additional possible errors:
    PCH HDD Slot1 on SATA controller 1
  • The following occurs before the reboot:
    • The ESXi host intermittently stops responding
    • Log collection for the node does not progress
    • esxcli storage core device list returns no response
    • esxcli storage core device smart get returns Error getting Smart Parameters: CANNOT open device
