Description

  • This article outlines the procedure to reboot a storage node that is running Element Software
  • In rare instances, it may be necessary to reboot a storage node that is running Element software. This should be done only when needed and under the direction of NetApp Support

Important:

  • The procedures for rebooting a node that is not in a cluster versus a node that is part of a cluster are different.  Both procedures are covered in this article
  • If a node is being rebooted because it is hung, has a hung process, or is experiencing other issues within Element then an alternative reboot method may be desired so a crash dump will be generated to assist in troubleshooting the cause of the hang
  • NetApp Support will advise on the type of reboot that is required based on the issue at hand
