To triage the issue, gather the following around the time of the reported issue:

  • Host OS logs
  • Oracle AWR report
  • Database alert log
  • ASM alert log
  • CRS and CSS logs (only for RAC)

Additional Information

This set of data provides the following information:

  • Database-related
    • What was the work done during the trouble
    • How long that work took to do
    • Histogram of I/O response times
  • Any I/O failures that were observed by:
    • Database
    • ASM
    • RAC
    • OS
  • Any iSCSI recovery processing executed by the host OS
