  • NVIDIA Mellanox Onyx operating system 3.9.3210

Description

This article explains the prechecks needed before upgrading Mellanox switch software from 3.9.3210 to 3.10.2202 and link to download the firmware.

Procedure

  • Prechecks
    • As per the interoperability matrix, Mellanox Ethernet Switch SN2010 is compatible with Element OS versions 11.7,11.8,12.0,12.2 and 12.3
    • There is no dependency for Onyx with Element OS, so customers can upgrade to the latest switch firmware version. Recommended to install the same version as the other switch in the environment because there could be a dependency between the switches for failover and other features.
  • Procedure
    • Download the firmware from the NVIDIA Support portal

    • Just populate the Current version, Target version, and Architecture and click on Show Download Path and you will be able to download the Onyx image for version 3.10.2202 (as shown in the following picture):clipboard_eb8730c72675310a6e50846082933b982.png

    • The upgrade is straightforward, you can go directly from Onyx v3.93210 to v3.10.2202.

    • Please find below instructions for the Onyx switch upgrade from NVIDIA's official User Manual

    • Please read carefully all sections with a focus on Upgrading HA Groups for upgrading MLAG pair of switches

NOTE: Please prepare yourself for an upgrade and perform this activity during a planned maintenance window.
