ONTAP select serving LUNs may panic when high amount of data is written to datastore

Issue

When a high amount of writes occur (on datastore VMFS-6) which causes VMDK to grow, the operation hangs up and ONTAP is rebooted with the following panic message:
 
WAFL hung for <volname>. in SK process wafl_exempt01 on release 9.x (C)
 
 
Normally a core dump will be generated which can be uploaded to a new or existing NetApp case to match it to this particular issue.
