ONTAP Select: NODE in state of unknown and not able to power up

Issue

  • A node virtual machine (vm) in a 2-node cluster is in a state of unknown and not able to be powered up successfully.
  • An error: An unrecoverable IOException occurred so the connection was closed on console in vCenter of the node vm.
  • Error as node vm is booting vnvram.dma.long.wait:ALERT]:vNVRAM flush taking over 10 seconds.
  • PANIC: PANIC:prod/kmod/freebsd/simnv/simnv.c:6594: Assertion failure. In SK processflxlog_worker on release 9.xx.x
  • vmware.log will report unresponsive messages: GuestRpc: app toolbox's second ping timeout; assuming app is down
