Answer
MDV_CRS*
- Volumes that start with MDV_CRS are metadata volumes that contain configuration information used in SVM-DR and MetroCluster.
- There will be one MDV_CRS volume per node in this configuration
- These volumes are created during the MetroCluster configuration setup process: Implementing the MetroCluster configuration
- They will be automatically created and hosted on a suitable data aggregate depending on your setup and configuration from above
- If necessary you can move these volumes to another eligible aggregate: Moving a metadata volume in MetroCluster configurations
MDV_aud*
- Volumes that start with MDV_aud are staging volumes used to store auditing information before they are consolidated to the appropriate system volumes that were created/specified during auditing setup
- There is one staging volume per aggregate
- More information regarding the audit staging volumes can be found here: Basic auditing concepts
