Storage failover is disabled after a panic

Answer

  • If a node panics within 60 seconds of taking over the partner node, storage failover is disabled.
  • You may see a message in EMS like the following:
    • Sun Aug 14 19:06:23 +0000 [CLUSTER-NODE-02: config_thread: cf.fm.panicToInProgress:alert]: Failover monitor: Panic during takeover; takeover will be disabled on reboot.
  • It needs to be re-enabled manually after the panic issue is fixed.

Additional Information

As the node panic'ed so soon after a takeover, ONTAP will try to protect the system from repeated occurrences where both nodes in an HA pair becomes unavailable.
