Switchless cluster network reports degraded with total packet loss when pinging

Issue

  • Receive alerts regarding CLUSTER NETWORK DEGRADED
  • EMS log shows the following message
 
callhome.clus.net.degraded: Call home for CLUSTER NETWORK DEGRADED: Total Packet Loss - Ping failures detected between Node-02_clus1 ( 169.254.85.22 ) on Node-02 and Node-01_clus1 ( 169.254.135.15 ) on Node-01
  • Cluster show displays health of both nodes in the cluster as false

  • Data aggregates may be offline

Info: Node Node-01 that hosts aggregate aggr_sas_01 is offline
      Node Node-01 that hosts aggregate aggr_sas_03 is offline
      Node Node-01 that hosts aggregate aggr_sata_01 is offline
      Node Node-01 that hosts aggregate aggr_Node_01_root is offline

  • Migrating the cluster lifs from the home-port with the failed pings to the failover target and the aggregates come back online and cluster health is restored
  • Replaced cable between cluster home-ports that have the failing ping and issue remains
