Shelf firmware mismatch and update failure on NS224 with ONTAP

Issue

  • Event logs show shelf downrev firmware for shelves
  • Event log messages indicate diskshelf modules are running mismatched firmware versions
  • Error messages:
[NetApp123_disc:sfu.firmwareDownrev.shelf:error]: Shelf0m.shelfXX has downrev firmware.
[NetApp123_disc:sfu.firmwareDownrev.shelf:error]: Shelf0m.shelfXX has downrev firmware.
[NetApp123_disc:ses.mismatch.fw.version:error]: The diskshelf modules on diskshelf0m.XX are running two different firmware versions. Diskshelf moduleA is running 0231, and diskshelf moduleB is running 0240.
  • Attempts to upgrade shelf firmware manually and via standard procedures failed
  • After replacement of NSM100 ModuleA on shelfXX, firmware on shelves XX and XX still did not update
  • System reports:
Error: Shelf firmware update request failed because no eligible shelves were found
