Issue

  • Disk bypassed by the IOMs in the AutoSupport STORAGE-FAULT or ::> system node run -node node_name -command storage show fault -v” output. Example:

Enclosure Status: critical
Channel: 0a
Shelf: 1
Shelf Type: DS460-12
Product Serial Number: SH0123456789
Module Type: IOM12
   ...
   27 [Bay  1]: CRITICAL          02,01,00,04   BYPASSED B, BYPASSED A, FAULT REQSTD
   ...

  • ONTAP Event Message alert. Example

[node_name: dsa_disc: ses.shelf.drwr.phy.rateunkwn:alert]: Drive shelf "1", module "A", drawer "3", PHY "1" is reporting an unknown link rate.
[node_name: dsa_disc: ses.shelf.drwr.phy.rateunkwn:alert]: Drive shelf "1", module "B", drawer "3", PHY "1" is reporting an unknown link rate.

[node_name-01: dsa_disc: callhome.dsk.redun.fault:error]: Call home for DISK REDUNDANCY FAILED

  • Issue remains after disk replacement with:

::> system node run -node node_name -command sasadmin expander_cli <SAS_path>.<Sheklf_ID>.<IOM_module> report_faults
...
Drawer 3:
   Device 27 (1)
         CRITICAL status code
         BYPASSED A
         BYPASSED B

  • And the drive not detected:

::> storage disk show -disk 1.1.27
There are no entries matching your query.

  • Issue remains after both IOMs re-seat.
