Issue

An AFF-C800 HA pair, which came preinstalled with 9.14.1P1 and X4030A SED NVME disks, was reverted to 9.12.1P10 in order to be joined to an existing cluster.

After the node rebooted, no disks could be seen from Maintenance Mode.

While the system booted, messages were seen:

Sep 27 12:25:48 [localhost:kern.version.change:notice]: Data ONTAP kernel version was changed from 9.14.1P1 to 9.12.1P10.
Sep 27 12:25:50 [localhost:disk.init.badSectorSize:error]: Disk 0n.19 has an unexpected sector size (0 bytes) and cannot be used.
Sep 27 12:25:50 [localhost:disk.init.failure.error:error]: Drive 0n.19 failed initialization due to error 0, sense code(0 0 0 0).

Sep 27 12:25:51 [localhost:diskown.errorReadingOwnership:notice]: error 19 (disk not ready for requested operation) while reading ownership on disk 0n.19 (S/N )

Sep 27 12:25:51 [localhost:diskown.errorDuringIO:error]: error 19 (disk not ready for requested operation) on disk 0n.19 (S/N ) while reading individual disk ownership area

for every disk installed in the system.  From sysconfig -v in maintenance mode, the disk show an errant model type for all disks:

slot 0: Virtual NVMe Host Adapter 0n
                 ID     Vendor   Model            FW    Size
                0    : NVMe     Marvell_NVMe_Con DA02   0.0GB (0 520B/sect) (Startup failed.)

Running other commands to check the disks

*> disk encrypt show
ERROR: The system is not configured to run this command.

*> disk encrypt encrypt revert_original <PSID from disk label> 0n.21
ERROR: The system is not configured to run this command.

yielded the errors as shown.
