Applies to

  • NetApp Storage System with initial Root-Data disk partitioning in the internal shelf
  • New external shelf added

Answer

  • No. It is not needed to migrate the root aggregate from partitioned to non-partitioned disks, when adding a new shelf.
  • When a new shelf with disks is added to a NetApp Storage System:
    • No additional partitioning for that shelf is needed
    • No root aggregate changes (movements) are needed
  • The existing data aggregates can be expanded with the new disks added, in new RAID groups.
