Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • SnapMirror

Issue

  • InterCluster LIF goes down.
  • If disabled/enabled LIF comes back up but goes down again shortly after.
  • SnapMirror shows high lag time
  • InterCluster LIFs are created on a separate IPspace
  • Packet traces indicate packet loss of ~50%.
  • Traces were showing the retransmission packets, which means the data did not reach the destination and hence it had to retransmit, when same data is sent over and over, then SnapMirror will not perform well.
  • However, network team confirmed  no issues with the networking config or networking hardware.
  • No CRC errors seen on the port the InterCluster LIF is hosted on.
  • Replacing the cables on the port doesn't fix the issue.
