Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • AFF A30
  • 9.16.1P2

Issue

  • Unable to join AFF A30 nodes to an existing ONTAP cluster.
  • Hardware Universe shows both slot 4 and slot 2 can be used, and the NIC card is currently in slot 2.
  • System ha interconnect port sharing modify has been set to false for the AFF A30 nodes in an attempt to try and resolve.
  • Nodes are now able to join the cluster, but HA interconnect is not available.
  • After rebooting one node,  No usable root volume was found! is seen on boot.
  • Running net port show shows ports e4a and e4b disappear after the node reboot.
  • Setting system ha interconnect port sharing to true brings the 2 ports back, but does not resolve the root vol missing issue due to the HA interconnect.
