How to partition and unpartition a drive manually in ONTAP 9

Last Updated:

Applies to

  • ADPv1
  • ADPv2
  • ONTAP 9

  • In some scenarios, a particular disk might not be partitioned automatically or is partitioned with a wrong partition size.
  • In this case, it requires manual re-partitioning.
  • However, the target disk must be with the same size and type as the source disks from the aggregate the disk will belong.
  • Partition sizes must not differ from those that the system was initialized with.
  • Don't use this procedure for Flash Pool manual SSD partitioning.
