AFF-A250 Controller Fails to Boot: “nvmem.battery.unread” Error

Issue

  • Node unable to boot following NVRAM Battery unreadble error:

WARNING:  The battery is experiencing a critical failure:
           - Battery charge FET is off
          Without a working battery, the system cannot retain data
          during a power outage, which can result in data loss.
          Power down the system and verify that the battery is
          properly installed.
          To ignore this failure and boot the system in a mode
          where data loss might occur, press 'c' followed by 'Enter'
[nvmem.battery.unread:EMERGENCY]: The NVMEM battery state cannot be determined because the 'Bat Volt' sensor is unreadable. To prevent data loss, the system will shut down in 5 minutes.
[nvmem.battery.unread:EMERGENCY]: The NVMEM battery state cannot be determined because the 'Bat Dstg Cycles' sensor is unreadable. To prevent data loss, the system will shut down in 5 minutes.
[nvmem.battery.unread:EMERGENCY]: The NVMEM battery state cannot be determined because the 'Bat Dsg FET Flt' sensor is unreadable. To prevent data loss, the system will shut down in 5 minutes.
[nvmem.battery.unread:EMERGENCY]: The NVMEM battery state cannot be determined because the 'Bat Chg FET Flt' sensor is unreadable. To prevent data loss, the system will shut down in 5 minutes.
[nvmem.battery.unread:EMERGENCY]: The NVMEM battery state cannot be determined because the 'Bat Temp' sensor is unreadable. To prevent data loss, the system will shut down in 5 minutes.
[nvmem.battery.unread:EMERGENCY]: The NVMEM battery state cannot be determined because the 'Bat Curr' sensor is unreadable. To prevent data loss, the system will shut down in 5 minutes.
[nvmem.battery.unread:EMERGENCY]: The NVMEM battery state cannot be determined because the 'Bat Full Cap' sensor is unreadable. To prevent data loss, the system will shut down in 5 minutes.
[nvmem.battery.unread:EMERGENCY]: The NVMEM battery state cannot be determined because the 'Bat Charge Curr' sensor is unreadable. To prevent data loss, the system will shut down in 5 minutes.
[nvmem.battery.unread:EMERGENCY]: The NVMEM battery state cannot be determined because the 'Bat Charge Volt' sensor is unreadable. To prevent data loss, the system will shut down in 5 minutes.
[nvmem.battery.unread:EMERGENCY]: The NVMEM battery state cannot be determined because the 'Bat Initial Fcc' sensor is unreadable. To prevent data loss, the system will shut down in 5 minutes.
[nvmem.battery.unread:EMERGENCY]: The NVMEM battery state cannot be determined because the 'Bat Pack Invalid' sensor is unreadable. To prevent data loss, the system will shut down in 5 minutes.
