CONTAP-182391: "SwitchInfoUpdateFailure_Alert" raised after replacing/renaming Ethernet switch
Issue
- The ONTAP Ethernet Switch Health Monitor (CSHM) reports a
SwitchInfoUpdateFailure_Alert
after replacing or renaming an Ethernet switch (including changes to the domain name).hm.alert.raised: Alert Id = SwitchInfoUpdateFailure_Alert , Alerting Resource = sw1 raised by monitor ethernet-switch
- When upgrading from ONTAP 9.14.1 or 9.15.1 to ONTAP 9.16.1 or later, CSHM may raise this alert if the switch was manually added in the past.
- The alerting resource is likely to be a manually added switch if discovery information - either a serial number (CDP) or a mac-address (LLDP) - is not included after its host name.
- When this occurs, the switch entry is removed from CSHM, and its information is no longer updated.
- Log collection must be reconfigured for the new switch entry.
- The alert will persist for up to 7 days after CSHM loses the switch.
- If the switch is re-added within the 7-day period, periodic log collection may automatically resume.
