E-Series Insufficient cache backup device capacity - AutoSupport Message
Applies to
- NetApp E-Series
- NetApp StorageGRID Appliances
Event Summary
- E-Series insufficient cache backup device capacity indicates the controller onboard mSATA backup device has likely failed a Diagnostic test causing the backup capacity to be insufficient.
- All volumes will change to write-through caching whenever the usable capacity of the persistent cache backup device is less than that of the cache memory.
    - This will generate a recovery failure entry stating that there is insufficient cache backup device capacity.
- Volumes configured to allow write caching without batteries will be unaffected.

Validate
- Open SANtricity System Manager and review the list of recovery guru failure entries under the home page.
- In SANtricity System Manager, the cache backup device status can be checked under the Hardware section or under Storage Array Profile in Support "Support Resources" section.
