ONTAP AutoSupport messages fail using HTTPS: SSL certificate problem

Issue

AutoSupport messages are successfully delivered to NetApp using HTTP as the transport, but fail when using HTTPS with certificate validation enabled.

  • message: SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate

  • message: SSL certificate problem: self signed certificate in certificate chain

  • Error: Peer certificate can not be authenticated with given Certificate Authority certificates.

How to Verify the error:

Command line:

::> autosupport check show-details

or

::*> system autosupport history show -node * -fields node ,seq-num ,status ,error ,destination

Logs:

The signature can be determined by viewing the errors logged by the AutoSupport subsystem by reviewing the  /mroot/etc/log/mlog/notifyd.log:
