Answer

This article describes ALL configurations that the 7-Mode Transition Tool v2.0 (7MTT) sets on clustered Data ONTAP.

The article also contains a list of some configurations that 7MTT v2.0 does not set; however, this information is provided for reference, as it might not be possible to list all features that are not transitioned (as there are too many).

The article also lists some features/configurations that should be set manually by the cluster administrator.

The following contains the high-level list of features/configurations that are transitioned by the 7MTT v2.0 tool:

  1. Name Services
    1. DNS Configuration
    2. LDAP Configuration
    3. NIS Configuration
    4. Name Service Switch Configuration (/etc/nsswitch.conf)
    5. Hosts Configuration (/etc/hosts)
    6. UNIX Users and Groups (/etc/group and /etc/passwd)
    7. Netgroups Configuration (/etc/netgroup)

For more information, see KB: 7MTT v2.0: Detailed description of configuration transition/manual steps: SnapMirror, NameServices, and WAFL

  2. Networking
    1. Data ONTAP 7-Mode IP addresses. You can select the existing IP addresses configured on Data ONTAP 7-Mode to be transitioned to the target cluster as part of transition.
    2. New LIFs during transition. You can provide details of the new LIFs to be configured on the target cluster as part of the transition.

For more information, see KB: 7MTT v2.0: Detailed description of configuration transition/manual steps: Networking, RBAC, SNMP, and Other features

  3. NFS
    1. Volume Export rules
    2. Qtree Export rules (with clustered Data ONTAP 8.2.1 and later)
    3. NFS Options
