Answer

  • We generate 2 authentication keys on the Onboard Key Manager (OKM) for NSE drives and the either can be used to apply to the data key id and / or the fips key id if desired.  They are interchangeable.  Once you apply one of them to the data key id the data is secure and protected.
  • Optionally you can apply the same NSE key to the fips key id for added protection or the other one.  See the additional information section below for the command to modify and apply the keys.
