Node in boot loop with partner up but not serving data

  • Two node switchless AFF or FAS configuration

Issue

  • Node panics while in takeover of partner, and enters boot loop:
PANIC : prod/common/wafl/blkr/blkr.c:542: Assertion failure.
  • Further boot attempts result in:
PANIC : page fault (supervisor read data, page not present) on VA 0x410 cs:rip 0x20:0xffffffff8067192a rflags 0x10246
  • Node is unable to boot to maintenance mode or boot menu without panicking
  • This can occur during any takeover - including during ONTAP upgrade
  • Node panics just after printing a message similar to the following:
Warning: Freeing unused FAT sector 1663140 4 6c
