AutoSupport delivery is enabled and is configured to use SMTP mailhost :

In Clustered Data ONTAP autosupport show -node * -instance will indicate, for example:

 State: enable
Protocol to Contact Support: smtp
  Support Address: autosupport@netapp.com
 SMTP Mail Hosts: email.example.com
  From Address: storage-admin@example.com

In 7-Mode Data ONTAP options autosupport will indicate, for example :

 autosupport.enable  on
 autosupport.from  storage-admin@example.com
 autosupport.mailhost  email.example.com
 autosupport.support.enable  on
 autosupport.support.to  autosupport@netapp.com
 autosupport.support.transport smtp

Issue

In Data ONTAP 8.x, the notifyd service running on each node packages and delivers AutoSupport messages for that node.

When notifyd uses SMTP to deliver an AutoSupport message, it provides normal response codes when successful, and when there are problems. Look for descriptive erorrs in the node's notifyd and messages logs, in autosupport history show output, and on the storage controller's console.

For example :

autosupport history show indicates a failure for SMTP, and AutoSupports are not visible on the MyASUP site

Mailhost or notifyd log shows an SMTP error like 454 5.7.3 External client does not have permissions to submit to this server

Antivirus software is blocking AutoSupport messages

Error message: Autosupport mail was not sent because the system cannot reach any of the mail hosts
