CONTAP-731309: VMware disconnects sporadically due to Persistent Store changes in 9.18.1P2

Issue

  • After upgrading from 9.16.1P3 to 9.18.1P2, NFS VMware Datastores hosted on a single node sporadically disconnect 1-2 times weekly and report All Paths Down events.
  • Prior to the upgrade, there are persistent store errors in SKTRACE shown below:
    • FPOLICY_PS_Err: n0x4b74e0: Dblade response failed with CSM error 9. Vserver = 25, PS Op = 5
    • FPOLICY_PS_Err: n0x4b6d78: Dblade response buffer is NULL. Vserver = 25, PS Op = 5, Path /vol/PS_Volume/active/
  • After the upgrade, the same errors are reported about 100x more frequently and includes an additional backlog location.
    • FPOLICY_PS_Err: n0x4e4c40: Dblade response failed with CSM error 9. Vserver = 25, PS Op = 5
    • FPOLICY_PS_Err: n0x4e44ff: Dblade response buffer is NULL. Vserver = 25, PS Op = 5, Path /vol/PS_Volume/backlog/
