ONTAP upgrade task aborted with error: failed to set field "vserver" to "x"

Issue

  • System shows following message after ONTAP upgrade attempt:

The upgrade is not complete: an upgrade task aborted. This node is not fully operational. Contact support personnel for the upgrade repair procedure.

  • Upgrade Task aborted due to "failed to set field "vserver" to "3""

Node: cluster1-n1                                       Status: aborted

Status Message: The upgrade aborted. Contact support personnel for the upgrade repair procedure.

  • There is no SVM with the name "3"

cluster1::*> vserver show -vserver 3

Error: Vserver name: Invalid. The Vserver name must begin with a letter or an underscore. Maximum supported length:
       41 if Vserver is type "sync-source", 47 otherwise.

  • Error when checking -instance output:

Status Message:  The upgrade failed in the "post-apps" phase on task " OpenSSH 8.1 Upgrade/Revert Task".
