Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • inodes
  • Snapshot copies

Answer

  • A snapshot copy references the state of its filesystem at the time the snapshot was taken, including WAFL metadata
  • Any inodes locked in a snapshot copy do not count towards overall inode usage in the active filesystem
  • It is not possible to view the number of inodes referenced by a particular snapshot copy within ONTAP
