Issue

  • When ONTAP is a Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) service provider,
it expects the user ID attribute to be in the Uniform Resource Identifier
    (URI) format only.
  • However, if Cisco Duo is the SAML identity provider, it sends the user ID attribute in the basic format.
  • The incompatibility in the user ID format between the service provider (ONTAP) and the identity provider (Cisco Duo) causes the SAML handshake to fail.
