Issue

  • MFA (WebAuthn/publickey) is configured on a security login entry using an AD/LDAP group name rather than an individual user
  • ONTAP intermittently fails to resolve group membership during the authentication start phase
  • System Manager returns "User is not configured for MFA" even though the user is a valid group member
  • Behavior is non-deterministic — may affect one cluster but not another with identical configuration
