Why did shelf firmware not update along with ONTAP upgrade?

Answer

  • The shelf firmware update is attempted during the ONTAP upgrade only if the shelf firmware bundled with the target ONTAP version is greater than the version already running in the system.
  • If the bundled shelf firmware is lower or the same as currently running firmware then no update will be attempted.
