  • Cluster interconnect and high-availability (HA) traffic

Answer

The following platforms support the sharing of cluster interconnect (CI) traffic and high-availability (HA) traffic over the same physical Ethernet port:

Model Link to Documentation

AFF A50, AFF A30

AFF A20
AFF A250, AFF C250
AFF A90, AFF A70
AFF A1K

AFF C60, AFF C30

AFF C80
ASA A50, ASA A30, ASA A20
ASA A250, ASA C250
ASA A90, ASA A70
ASA A1K

FAS2820

FAS500f
FAS70, FAS90

Additional Information

  • HA traffic on the 1st shared cluster+HA port uses VLAN 17 while HA traffic on the 2nd shared cluster+HA port uses VLAN 18
  • VLAN 17 and 18 traffic is not passed over the cluster switch inter-switch link (ISL)
    • Therefore, you must always connect the 1st cluster+HA ports to switch "A" and the 2nd cluster+HA ports to switch "B" for each HA pair
e.g. AFF A250: e0c ports connect to switch "A" and e0d ports connect to switch "B"
