Issue

  • System is taken over by its partner node and cannot boot up.
  • EMS log messages might be displayed as follows.

[node2: cf_hwassist: cf.hwassist.takeoverTrapRecv:notice]: hw_assist: Received takeover hw_assist alert from partner(node1), system_down because l2_watchdog_reset.
[node2: cf_takeover: cf.fm.takeoverStarted:notice]: Failover monitor: takeover started
[node2: cf_takeover: cf.fm.takeoverComplete:notice]: Failover monitor: takeover completed

  • Console reports the following error, which means the node cannot boot without all DIMMs installed, and all must be functional.

Starting AUTOBOOT press Ctrl-C to abort...
System DIMM configuration is not supported by AFF-C250
Halting...

  • DIMMs are proven to be working by moving to another node.
  • Reseating the DIMMS do not allow the node to boot.
