Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • Cisco Nexus  3232
  • Cluster network switch

Issue

  • Despite the cluster port being up and functional, the following alert is seen:

cluster::*> system health alert show
Node: cluster-n03
Alert ID:ClusterSwitchConnectivity_Alert
Resource: cluster-n13
Severity: Major
Indication Time: Sun Jun 1820:27:06 2023
Suppress: false
Acknowledge: false

Probable Cause: One or more nodes are not connected to both cluster switches.
Possible Effect: If one cluster switch fails, "cluster-n13" might lose access to the cluster. Corrective Actions: Verify that the switch "cluster-switch2(FOC1234567)" isconnected to the node "cluster-n13".

  • However the port is up and working, the CDP information of the remote device (cluster switch) is missing on node node port e1a
  • The switch is not seen on the affected port only in the network device-discovery show command output
