ONTAP System Manager disk addition less than expected

Issue

When adding disks to an existing RAID-TEC aggregate in ONTAP System Manager, the number of available disks for addition is less than expected due to spare disk reservation. Customers may see the following behaviors:

  • In System Manager, when attempting to add 12 new disks, only 10 are available for addition; 2 are reserved as spares.
