Applies to

  • AFF, FAS, ASA
  • Clustered ONTAP environments using Aggregate Relocation (ARL) for controller upgrades

Issue

  • ARL hardware refresh: netapp01-02 upgraded to ONTAP 9.17.1P3 while HA partner remained on 9.16.1P12.
  • ONTAP version mismatch caused a RAID label mismatch.
  • Disk discovery/initialization failed, resulting in a degraded state.
  • ARL and further upgrade activities were blocked.

Node: netapp01-02 Status: stopped
Status Message: The upgrade process stopped due to the restart of the management application or node. The upgrade can be restarted manually by running "system node upgrade-revert upgrade-node <nodename>". Use the (privilege: advanced) "system node upgrade-revert show" command to check which nodes need to have the upgrade restarted manually.

Error: command failed: Update prohibited. Reason: Upgrade is not complete on nodes: netapp01-02. Corrective Action: To complete the upgrade, run the advanced privilege command "system node upgrade-revert upgrade" on each node.

VolumeHealthStatusError Error: Failed to perform "Volume HealthStatus" check. Reason: invalid field.
Action: The "Volume HealthStatus" check cannot be completed until the error has been resolved. Resolve all errors, then use the "cluster image resume-update" command to resume the update.
