Node Join Failure During ONTAP Cluster Expansion

Issue

During a planned cluster expansion from 4 to 6 nodes, attempts to add new nodes using System Manager failed with the following error:

The partner node details weren't found for the node with the following serial number: 952123456789.If all the nodes weren't found, then check the node connections, reload the cluster setup wizard, and then try to set up the cluster again.

Additional symptoms observed:

  • New nodes were not automatically discovering existing cluster interfaces.
  • Cluster interconnect ports were not being detected correctly.
