  • Disks for the affected shelf have improper disk names:

036A5580.0: NETAPP   X378_WVAXE10TA07 NA02 9324.2GB 520B/sect (XXXXXXXX)
036A5580.2: NETAPP   X378_WVAXE10TA07 NA02 9324.2GB 520B/sect (XXXXXXXX)
036A5580.4: NETAPP   X378_WVAXE10TA07 NA02 9324.2GB 520B/sect (XXXXXXXX)

  • Messages similar to below may be seen from both nodes:
ses.shelf.unsupportAllowErr: Unsupported disk shelf found on channel 0b.
ses.inconsistent.config: Inconsistent configuration detected for shelf connected to adapter 0b, 0c.
  • Shelf reports in EMS with an incorrect shelf ID than what is expected:
[Node01: sanown_reservation: diskown.drawer.invalidShlf:error]: The system cannot automatically assign disks for shelf "255" because the shelf is in an invalid state.

  • Confirmed no shelf ID conflict, and that it was set correctly:
SAS Shelf ID is not set or is in conflict with an existing shelf
